The drugs are shabu, marijuana, and ecstasy,
Within the two months of Duterte Administration, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has already confiscated P5.44 Billion worth of dangerous drugs such as shabu, marijuana, and ecstasy, from June 30 to August 25.
The confiscated drugs is significantly higher than the P3.8 billion of illegal drugs recovered by PDEA and Philippine National Police (PNP) from January to June 29, according to PDEA director general Isidro Lapeña.
"Due to the number of drug [surenderers], we particularly deducted a significant amount of drugs in the streets. The surrender of 673,978 drug personalities means a reduction of 1,040 kilos of shabu in the market translated to P5.2 billion loss in income," Lapeña explained.
When President Rodrigo Duterte assumed the presidency on June 30, extensive campaign against illegal drugs were launched with the help of PNP and PNP chief general Director Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
To follow Duterte’s order, PDEA has stepped up their campaign to seize more illegal drugs.
The relentless campaign has led several officials in politics and police to surrender on PNP or to the President. Duterte even presented a list of names who are allegedly involved in illegal drug trade.
One of PDEA’s accomplishments was the raid on the shabu laboratory of suspected Chinese drug Lord Mico Tan in Valenzuela last July.
