United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Right Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein criticized President Rodrigo Duterte over the issue of human rights on the extensive campaign of the President against illegal drugs.
On a statement, the top official said:
(Duterte) display a striking lack of understanding of our human rights institutions and the principles which keep societies safe.Duterte has been the talk of the town in the international scene as he issued fearless and bold statement against the the officials of UN and the United States President Barack Obama.
The President of the Philippines's statements of scorn for international human rights law display a striking lack of understanding of our human rights institutions and the principles which keep societies safe.
Fair and impartial rule of law is the foundation of public confidence and security. Empowering police forces to shoot to kill any individual whom they claim to suspect of drug crimes, with or without evidence, undermines justice. The people of the Philippines have a right to judicial institutions that are impartial, and operate under due process guarantees; and they have a right to a police force that serves justice.
He believes that leaders from various organizations and the leader of America should not interfere and question his campaign against illegal drugs.
