"Ang Diyos ang naglagay sa akin dito.”This is the striking statement of President Rodrigo Duterte in a speech before thousands of Filipinos at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
Despite being known as notoriously straight and frank, President Rodrigo Duterte appeared to be spiritual as he acknowledged God on making him the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
He added that he will work in accordance to the will of God and what the Lord wanted him to do.
He even described winning the highest position in the country as “miracle,” according to a report of ABS-CBN News
"Ang pagka-presidente ko, almost destiny. It's a miracle to me. He wants me to improve my country, stop corruption and make the lives of the Filipinos comfortable people," Duterte said.Duterte is in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day state visit, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations with Brunei.
He is scheduled to meet Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to seek assistance on his war against illegal drugs and negotiation efforts with local rebel groups.
After his state visit in Brunei, the President will visit China on Tuesday to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
His visit in China grew controversies and curiosity on how it would turned out after the sea disputes in West-Philippines sea where China claimed to be part of their territory.
