Senator Leila De Lima admitted that she was “very close” to his driver Ronnie Dayan and alleged lover according to President Rodrigo Duterte.
When asked if she has a personal relationship with his driver on ANC’s Headstart hosted by Karen Davila, she said:
"I was very close to him, but I wouldn’t want to be publicly speaking about it. It’s too personal for me."De Lima’s relationship with her driver has been controversial after Duterte pointed out that the latter was the “bag man” for drug money coming from the big time drug lord in New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
President Duterte even called De Lima as “immoral” for having a relationship with Dayan, a married man.
Reports also sprouted online saying that De Lima and Dayan allegedly had a video together.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre once asked to play the video in the House of Representative on its investigation into the drug trade in NBP.
However, De Lima staunchly denied her involvement on the alleged video.
"It is not me as far as I’m concerned because I cannot imagine an instance, could not remember anything where it could be possible that there is such a video-taking," she said. Here's the interview video of Sen. de Lima where she said she's 'very close' to Dayan. Please watch.
"I would not want to be publicly engaging relative to that issue because I know that they are just really only amplifying all this as part of the whole character assassination strategy that this president is undertaking for months already," she said.
