The camp of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr slammed Vice President Leni Robredo for linking the election protest against her to the burial of former president Ferdinand Marcos.
"It is very disappointing and disconcerting that former Rep. Leni Robredo is trying to connect the issue of BBM's [Bongbong Marcos] Election Protest to the burial of his father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani insinuating that the latter is a way of supposedly 'stealing' the vice presidency away from her," Atty. Vic Rodriguez, legal spokesperson of Bongbong said in a report of ABS-CBN News.On Monday, Robredo worried over a possible movement to oust her from vice presidency. She shared that she received alleged reports on possible vote recount.
"We have no plans of stealing something that we obviously won to begin with. It is our position that BBM won the vice presidential race and had it not been for the systematic fraud and unprecedented maneuverings committed on the day of the elections, he should have been the one proclaimed," he added.
But Atty. Rodriguez clarified:
"Yes indeed there was a thief in the night, and it happened on the night of the elections - shortly after the script in the Transparency Server was changed. Having repeatedly asserted that they won the election fair and square, they should be the first to welcome a recount to prove once and for all the truth to their claims. Discrediting the process this early on, are they afraid of a vote recount? Are they afraid to know the truth?"Bongbong filed an electoral protest on his claims that fraud happened on the vice presidency that led Leni to win the position.
