FEARLESS Remarks Of Aguirre To Ombudsman On Gen. Bato’s Trip, Burn!

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aquirre II said that there're more significant issues that the Office of the Ombudsman should investigate than the recent Las Vegas trip of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa sponsored by Senator Manny Pacquiao.

Aquirre believed that the Ombudsman should focus on the pending complaints against government officials on the controversial Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

"Instead of spending time sa mga ganyang mga cases, maraming cases diyan tulad ng PDAF at DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Program)," Aguirre told GMA News.
The office of the Ombudsman announced on Friday that Dela Rosa will be under probe after he admitted that Pacquiao paid for his trip and his family citing a possible violation of Presidential Decree 46, which bars public officials and employees from receiving gifts on any occasion, and  possible violation of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Meanwhile, Gen. Bato said he is willing to be jailed if proven he is guilty on the accusation.

Pacquiao who won his recent fight said that he would like to study the laws that prohibit public officials from accepting gifts.

'Yan ang kinukuwestiyon ko na yung batas na 'yan hindi masyado klaro. What if kasabay mo sa pagkain tapos ikaw nagbayad ng pagkain, may kaso na agad?
