As President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to eradicate corruption on his administration, more than 80 officials and personnel from Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) were relieved due to corruption issues.
A total of 41 employees already resigned or was terminated and suspended because of their involvement in corruption, while nine are still under investigation, according to LTFRB in a report of Yahoo.com
Meanwhile, 27 employees from LTO composed of regional directors, assistant regional director, and other were relieved on the same issue. 16 others are also now under investigation for their alleged participation in corruption.
The agency encouraged people who have reports on any corruption practices of officials and public servant of DOTr-attached agencies to visit their site and fill up the DOTr online complaint form.
DOTC Assistant Secretary Cherie Mercado, “Yung mga reports are confidential, kung may mga kasong kailangang i-file. Dun lang din natin kakailanganin magbigay sila ng identity nila to give their statements but otherwise, we will follow up their allegations. If we need, the information that they will give us are confidential.”
Other agencies also implemented program that would prevent corruption issues on their offices.
Meanwhile, LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III asked the public, “I will just have to appeal kung pwede huwag na kayo magbigay before during and after any government transactions that you are going to enter into with the DOTr or with any government agency for that matter.”
