Espinosa was murdered; it was not a shootout.
This was the claim of a detainee at Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in BayBay City as he saw what went through on Saturday when Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed by the Police.
"May dala silang cutter. Laking cutter tapos nakita nilang may CCTV bumalik sila. Pag balik nila, wala nang ilaw ang CCTV. Pumasok sila tapos patay na ang ilaw," said by a witness who refused to disclose his identiy in a report from CNN.Members of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Region 8 headed to the Sub-Provincial Jail to serve search warrants.
The witness entailed that seven men went to the inner part of the jail where two swoop to Espinosa’s cell. He added that they were threatened by the men if they will speak up about it.
"Pinagsasabihan nga kami na pag nagsalita kami, pagbabalikan kaming lahat. Babarilin kami."The two men who went to Espinosa’s cell have no nameplate on their uniform. Espinosa tried to be polite by greeting the policemen and even asked if he could use the comfort room, according to the witness.
"Sabi ni mayor, huwag nyo akong lagyan sir dahil wala akong ganyan. Wag nyo akong planter-an," the witness recalled. After it, they heard gunshots from cell number one and seven concurrently. And they later found out that Espinosa and Yap was shot-to-death.
"Sabi ni Mayor, punta muna ako ng CR sir. Sabi ng mama, wag ka na pumunta. Yun na putok na. Binaril na si Mayor. Hindi na nakapagsalita," the detainee added.
"Sinabi nila na may baril si Mayor, walang baril yun. Alam namin dahil mahigpit kasi yung searching nila dito... Wala, walang lumaban," the male witness said.READ ALSO: On The Death Of Espinosa, Veteran Writer Says, 'Naglilinis Ng Ebedensya Ang Mga Operatiba'
