Viral: Prof Shared How He Understands The Meaning Of 'Desist From Attending Cabinet Meetings'

"Pero reading between the lines. I think the President technically fired her."
Leni Robredo resigns as HUDCC chair
Vice-president Leni Robredo's resignation on Monday is trending on social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook.
On different big media companies, they keep on quoting that the reason why Robredo will resign on her post as chairperson of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) is because President Rodrigo Duterte's order her through Sec. Evasco "to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting this Monday, December 5."

In line with this, a viral Facebook post from political analyst and De La Salle University professor Antonio Contreras, tells how he understands President Duterte's order.

The President was just being a gentleman. He could not directly fire Leni Robredo so he just advised her to desist from attending cabinet meetings.

That is another way of saying you are fired.
On another post, he also shared this:

Sa wakas! Finally! What took you so long!

Pero reading between the lines. I think the President technically fired her.

Look:

"According to the statement, she received a text message on Saturday from Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco, Jr., relaying the President's instruction through his executive assistant Bong Go for her “to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings" starting December 5."
Netizens who gave comment on his Facebook post said:

I think so, too. With the continuing destabilization plot and her very public criticism of PRRD's acts, who would want her, a non-supporter in the Cabinet? Actually, kung may delicadeza sya, dapat matagal na syang nag resign.
Yolanda commemoration, the President chided her thru the tuhod joke. But the last straw was her complaint on small housing budget when it's her responsibility to prepare and justify it. Bilang maginoong bastos :) ayaw ni Presidente ang direct confrontation kaya ganern.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Sunday night said Vice President Robredo was "fired" from President Rodrigo Duterte's Cabinet.

"Considering the situation, I think she is FIRED," Alvarez said in a text message to GMA News
