Upon their request, parents of Kian Delos Santos, Saldy and Lorenza, had a closed-door meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, August 28, at around 1 p.m. Present during the said meeting were Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Public Attorneys Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta, and Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) chair Dante Jimenez.
President Duterte according to Aguirre, explained why he chose not to attend the wake of the slain student. This is because it would seem like he is already admitting that it was the fault of the police even if investigation is still ongoing.
The 17-year-ol Grade 11 student, Kian, was allegedly manhandled and killed by members of the Caloocan City Police during the conduct of Oplan Galugad on August 16. He was laid to rest at the La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City on Saturday.

Meanwhile, photos of Kian's parents with President Duterte immediately circulated online. It went viral on social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter.
RTVM Staffer: "Sabi nung nanay (ni Kian) after the meeting with PRRD, 'Sir pwede ko po kayo mayakap? 😥'. Sa sobrang gulat ko, hindi ko nakunan maayos, dun ako nalaglag."
TRANSLATION: After the meeting, Kian's mom asked President Rody Duterte, "Sir (Mr. President, may I hug you? 😥'. I was so shocked I wasn't able to get a good shot, I was disconcerted."
