During National Heroes’ Day celebration in Taguig City on Monday, August 28, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to be assigned to Iloilo.
Your next assignment is Iloilo.The President awarded P/CInsp. Espenido with the Magalong Medal, which is conferred on officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who have rendered "extraordinary service or have made exceptional contributions to the success of an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President."

Espenido was the police commander of Albuera, Leyte, when Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was arrested on drug charges in Leyte and eventually killed in November 2016 during a police operation in his detention cell at Baybay City, Leyte.
He was transferred to Ozamiz City in December 2016.
Several months later, Espenido led the raids on the houses of the Parojinog clan in July that led to the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 14 others.
