During the hearing of the Blue Ribbon Committee on Thursday, August 31, tension rose between Senator Richard Gordon and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after the latter moved to invite Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his brother-in-law, Mans Carpio, to the hearing on the P6.4 billion shabu shipment.
As per Gordon and Majority Leader Senator Vicente Sotto III, witness Mark Taguba should first present solid evidence before Trillanes could demand Duterte and Carpio’s presence in succeeding hearings.
Consequently, Karen Davila, a journalist and radio broadcaster, gave her opinion during radio program DZMM TeleRadyo.
If she was asked, Davila wants Presidential son, Paolo, and his brother-in-law to attend the hearing since their name were tagged.

However, prominent social media blogger and columnist at The Manila Times, Sass Sasot, slammed Davila after watching the video.
In a Facebook post, Sasot said if Davila has evidence that Duterte and Carpio were smugglers, she should file a case in court.
So anong purpose ng invitation? In aid of legislation or Trillanes' SELF-PROMOTION? In another post, she added:
Huh? Ateng, bistado ka na. Sige salsal pa sa gusto ni Trillanes.Sasot also reminded everyone about Taguba's statement and agreed to what Sotto had said during senate hearing.
In recent posts, Sasot questioned:
Anong eksena iyan Karen D? Maiyak-iyak ka pa habang nagsasalita sa radio show mo. Wazzup? She then adds:
Ateng Karen Davila, di ba importante sayo ang issue na ginago raw ng nagpapalamon sa iyo na ABS-CBN ang Development Bank of the Philippines? Iyong tataa...During hearing, witness Taguba showed the panel his exchanges of text messages with a certain “Tita Nani” where the names of "Pulong" and "Mance" were mentioned in their transaction.
Trillanes who demand Duterte and Carpio’s presence in succeeding hearing, was slammed by Gordon who said:
You’re so fond of naming names and making general statements. If you want to make general statements, better prove it. This is the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines. This is not a ‘cockpit of chismis.’ We’re here to investigate real things.
Gordon's statement irked Trillanes. He then tagged Gordon’s committee as a “committee de abswelto” for favoring influential personalities.
Gordon responded by saying:
Majority leader, the gentleman from whatever he comes from (Trillanes), says this is a ‘committee de abswelto.’ The gentleman has been accusing everybody in the Senate of everything… In the past you got away, Senator Zubiri and you almost got into a slug fest.
Gordon asked Sotto "to convoke the ethics committee and I will file personally ethics committee case against this gentleman from Bicol."
