On November 7, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said he will file a libel case against Thinking Pinoy blogger RJ Nieto for allegedly circulating "fake news." During the Kapihan sa Senado, Trillanes said:
Well pini-prepare na ng abogado ko yung libel case so kakasuhan namin siya ng libel, yung nagkalat sila ng fake news na tinawag daw ako ni President Trump na little narcoNieto, who remained unfazed over the libel case that Trillianes will file against him, said in a text message sent to GMA News,
Maliwanag na 'yon doon sa US government website on the presidential pronouncements and interviews, wala talaga doon. So kasinungalingan talaga 'yan. It's a propaganda operation na sasalabungin ko 'yan.
It is disappointing to see a lawmaker who is ignorant of the law. The allegedly libelous statement contains the word 'reportedly'. I hope the Senator, who appears to have no access to a dictionary, can at least Google what that word means. In a text message to News5, Nieto called Trillanes' libel threat as trial by presscon and pressures on his freedom of speech.
I hope this is not just another of Trillanes’ attempts at acoustic warfare. He said he’ll sue Asec. Mocha for the libel too, but it’s been over a month and Mocha has yet to receive a copy of the complaint.SEE ALSO: Pro-Duterte Blogger to Trillanes: Sue me, goddamn idiot
If all he does is trial by press conference, then that undoubtedly is harassment aimed at suppressing free speech.
Meanwhile, here's Nieto's another statement about the said issue posted separately on his Facebook page.
TRILLANES TO SUE THINKINGPINOY
Here's where our taxes go?
Trililing, bobo ka talaga. See you in court, o baka hindi mo na naman yan itulak kamukha ng dalawang kudeta mong hindi lumagpas ng 24 oras?
Upon reading the article, two crucial details that the Philippine Star reporter all-too-conveniently missed:
1. That my primary source for the allegedly libelous ThinkingPinoy post [http://bit.ly/2zCffJA] is Al Pedroche's article, published by the Philstar Group, with emphasis on the word "primary", as the information has already been posted by Ira V. Panganiban three full days before the publication of the Pedroche article.
2. The statement that Trillanes purports to be libelous which, by the way, is:
TRUMP CALLS TRILLANES A DRUG LORD
US President Donald J. Trump reportedly called Senator Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV a "Little Narco", with "narco" being the colloquial for a "drug baron" or "drug lord".
DOES TRUMP'S GOVERNMENT KNOW SOMETHING?
But then, the philstar.com reporter Gaea Cabico graduated only in 2017, so I guess she still lacks the requisite experience to come up with follow up questions.
What interesting in this entire brou-ha-ha is that Trillanes seems to have spared Philstar columnist Mary Ann Reyes, and ABS-CBN stringer Mike K Cohen. Instead, the idiot focused only on me, an independent blogger.
TRILLANES, A MERE BLOGGER IS A THREAT TO YOU?
Wag mo namang insultuhin ang pagiging senador. At kaninong pera ang ipanggagastos mo sa pagdedemanda?
MULA SA BUWIS NG BAYAN?
