"#NoToHeadlineTwisting", says DOTr to ABS-CBN's story about them

Malicious and misleading. That is how the Department of Transportation (DOTr) finds the ABS-CBN story titled "Tugade tells public: Pray for MRT."
The said article was reported by Ron Gagalac, published on November 9.

According to DOTr, the exact quote was used by ABS-CBN in its story, however, the headline was meant to put malice into Secretary Tugade's statement.

DOTr PRESS STATEMENT
09 November 2017

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) finds the ABS-CBN story titled "Tugade: Pray for MRT" misleading and malicious.

Issues concerning the MRT-3 are serious, and the DOTr is serious in solving them. We are taking bold steps to ensure that the system is safe and reliable. We are not just waiting for a miracle.

At the sidelines of the NLEX Harbor Link inspection today, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade told the media:

"TULUNGAN NIYO PO KAMI. BIGYAN NYO KAMI NG TIWALA. AMBUNAN NYO KAMI NG DASAL. 'PAGKAT ANG PROBLEMA HO SA MRT AY MASYADONG MALAWAK AT MALALIM. HUWAG TAYO UMASA NG MILAGRO PERO GAGAWIN NATIN ANG ATING MAKAKAYA."

While that exact quote was used by ABS-CBN in its story, it is clear, however, that the headline was meant to put malice into Secretary Tugade's statement. A clickbait, perhaps?

The DOTr urges ABS-CBN to be truthful, and not post misleading headlines, if it were to really serve the Filipino people.
